Minimise your kitchen utensils. Do not cramp your drawers with too many cooking tools. You do not need most of this tools in daily cooking. Find a huge box and get rid of all those tools into the box. If you need one of them to cook, take one out of it then put it in the drawer. Soon, you will find out that the only tools you need for cooking that you find in your drawer are about six to ten utensils. Stick to those utensils in the drawer and add the one that you really need. Keep the remaining tools inside the box. Put the box in the pantry or closet.

Use a sharp knife for cooking. The best one you can find is a quality French knife and make sure always to keep it sharpened. This makes the task of cutting vegetable becomes an easy job. It will torture you to deal with a dull knife when cooking.

Choose fresh vegetables instead of a canned one if the recipe requires some vegetables. Go to the local grocery store and get a fresh vegetable. It works the same for fruits or other items. Fresh items bring flavour in a particular way. It is something that canned or frozen version cannot do. By using fresh items, you can avoid the use of preservatives and other unhealthy packing materials, such as fructose corn syrup in the can be found in canned fruits.

Keep herbs and spices in a cool and dark space. Herbs and spices can loose their flavours due to many factors. For example, humidity, heat and light are able to make them lose their flare. Make sure you do store the herbs and spices in a cool cabinet to prevent them from losing their flavours.

The best way to learn about spices is by having one spice on your eggs every morning. One by one experience the taste and the smell of every spice alone on your eggs till you are accustomed to each one. Next, you can begin to mix them. This process will improve your cooking skills quickly.

Store your organic frozen vegetables in the freezer. When you have frozen vegetable with you, the rest that you will need is only some healthy fat and a protein and voila! You got yourself a meal. By being consistent with this, you are on the way to be successful.

Do not leave a frozen or raw chicken at a room temperature. It can prompt the growth of bacteria such as Listeria and Salmonella. Cooked chicken must be left at room temperature for more than two hours. Store the chicken that you are not going to use in the freezer quickly. Put the chicken in the freezer in its store packaging unless you plan to store it longer like a month or more, take the chicken out of the store packaging and wrap it with aluminium foil and a plastic bag suitable for a freezer.

When you cook chicken, put the chicken over the ingredients such as onions. Put the cut and sliced onions into the pan that has been oiled first then put the chicken over the ingredients. They will be soaked by the juices coming out from the chicken.

Be part of what you are cooking. Taste when you cook. The tasting will let you know whether what you are cooking at the moment will need more seasoning with spices or herbs.

If you are going to make some cake, remember to mix dense batters using hands with a wooden spoon to avoid the cakes from falling flat. If you mix the batter using an electric mixer, it beats too much air into the dough. Later it will make the cakes fall when baked. By gently mix the thick dough using a wooden spoon, you can protect the consistency of the dough from taking up too much air.

Do not let failure stop you from cooking. It is okay to fail. Things sometimes don’t work the way we want it. We know that it is not nice to throw food away, but hey! Great cooks too have done such thing in their career. So, expect that you will do that thing sometimes and do not let that beat you.

Clean up when you finish cooking. The mess will not pile up if you do it in between the cooking process that needs a little time to complete. By doing the clean up in during the cooking will make cooking more enjoyable since the clean up will not be too intimidating.
